He received his early musical education as a violinist and vocalist. He graduated from the conducting and choir department of the Tchaikovsky Sverdlovsk Music College in the class of Anatoly Pavkin, and in 2021 graduated from the St Petersburg Conservatoire with a degree in opera and symphony conducting under the guidance of Professor Alexander Polishchuk, pupil and assistant to the legendary Ilya Musin. For the next two years Ivan underwent an assistantship in Moscow under the guidance of Professor Yuri Simonov, People's Artist of the USSR. The musician's graduation works included the operas Iolanta, Eugene Onegin, La Traviata and The Dawns are Quiet Here (directed and supervised by Andrei Tsvetkov-Tolbin) at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire Theater and the Opera Studio of the Ippolitov-Ivanov Institute.
